Is a nice morning in Helsengaard, Skies are clear, and the sun warms the land.
You wake up hungry, Moose meat has been scarce since they were over hunted last season.
A couple of days ago at the tavern, you heard some talk about a pack roaming up the SW mountain, it is a long walk up, but what choice do you have? If you find it, you can even sell some in the local market for a good price.

You get up, grab your equipment and start walking outside the city towards the mountain, just another day at Greenland... what could go wrong?

A floating orb, dull and lifeless is placed in the center of a destroyed laboratory.
This is magic and you know nothing about it, better leave this for another time...

You see a floating orb, look like is made of thin glass, but it moves and deforms like water.
Inside you see a storm of lights and snow contained by the thin layer of the orb.
You feel the energy inside, the chaos of the storm trying to escape.
But is not only that, you feel like...
... is looking for something ... asking for it ...
No!
You don't know much about magic, but an Orb "asking for something"? It makes no sense!
Maybe the altitude is messing with your head? You should go back, is a long walk back to Helsengaard and you are hungry.
As you turn your back to the orb, a blast of cold wind hits you to the ground, temperature drops and you feel your skin freeze.
You look around and see a room full of snow. You are scared, want to run away but the door in front of you is blocked by an ice wall.
... Something is wrong, you see the snow and your skin freezing, you feel the wind of the storm, but you don't feel.. cold, not the same way.
You get up and turn to the orb, a sense of despaired need comes from it, you get closer enough to touch it and as your hand get nearer you feel warm from it... until you place you hand and...
The orbs glows and the room is lit with dancing shades of green, blue and purple
Your mind is overwhelmed, you can't think.
It feels like floating in a boreal aurora, the snow around the room starts melting and flowers are growing all around...
But no matter, you eyes are once again fixed inside the orb for some reason, looking deeper and deeper, you can't even blink.
For a second, the storm is no more, you can see fields of green, crops growing strong and a clear blue sky, but as the orb starts to regenerate it's cracks, the storm goes over the fields once again.
All gets black, and you wake up...
You are free, your mind is yours once again and the room look normal.
Looking outside, is night already, how long have you been away? Hours? What was that? An attack? Wrong place and time? A "need"? What does it need?

Arnfinnur Rune

A body is laying on the floor, a closer look and you are sure he is dead.
You don't care to see his face, you have to many problems already, better leave before someone think it was you who killed him.

The place is destroyed, but not from a fight, someone was searching for something.
A dead body lies on the floor, stabbed. You have never seen him, but you know who it is, everyone in Helsengaard knows.
The old Arnfinnur.
You heard stories of this place, the Winter Tower and its laboratory, one of the last places of magic.
Some say Arnfinnur is a master in search for power over nature using magic and science, others say he is just a crazy old man who likes to live lonely in the mountains.
One thing is sure, he knew a lot about nature.
From time to time, some people send his children here as apprentices of Arnfinnur, when they go back home they manage to get really god crops even with bad weather, but is not magic, just knowledge.
Those children don't talk much about their time in the Tower, but they always come back happy, healthy and well-fed.
You feel sad for Arnfinnur, you heard stories of old days when he showed up in Hasengaard at the worst winter and helped with the crops, some say the city would have starved without his help.
However killed him, was in search of something, what could it be? You wonder if they found it or is it still hidden around.
Secret Box Rune

You look around the laboratory in search of somethig usefull, but have no idea what most of the things here are.
Looking again at the dead body, you think is best to leave this place, even if you find something valuable to sell, someone could find out is from here and think you are the killer.

Feeling hungry and poor, you could really use some Gold and something here for sure is worth the risk.
After some time searching you see some scratches on the wall near a hack, look like a secret door was leaving marks when opened, inside there is a box.
Seems to have a glowing rune engraved in it.

You reach you arm inside to grab the box, you feel cold coming from it.
At the sliest touch of you finger, the rune of the box glows, the ice is going up from your fingertips to your arm, too cold to feel pain, you try to get away of the box just to see you frozen arm break, and fall from your body.
Your greed got you killed.

You look around, curious to find a clue of what happened and what was stolen.
There are some scratches on the wall near a hack, look like a secret door was leaving marks when opened, someone in a hurry would not have notice it, but you have time.
Inside you see a well carved pine box, seems to have a glowing rune engraved in it.
Somehow you know the rune, something in the back of your mind is whispering about it, is a protective ice spell... but safe for you.
Reaching for the box, you can feel the cold from the box is being absorbed by your hand, even tho you don't understand, it feels good. The rune break upon you touch, and you grab the box.
You sit on the ground to open the box, you expect... answers? Gold? More magic? Must something really important to be worth such a protective spell.
You flip a lock at the box, and open it. Inside, a ripped page hand written and a childrens drawing...
WHAT!? You put the papers aside and turn the box up side down, searching for the real treasure, but there's is none, those papers are Arnfinur treasure.
This is too much for a day, your mind is going in circles trying to understand what is happening.
You get up, look at the body for one last time, wonder for a second what you will do, and leave...
Is dark already, but the cold of night feels nice and should help you think. You start walking back to Helsengaard, and will look at that "treasure" tomorow.
