The game account is a special account in Townforge. It is controlled by two people: [Sigrid Sigrúnarsdóttir](Sigrid Sigrúnarsdóttir) and Syksy, the team behind Townforge.
The game account is mostly a normal game account, but has special features and powers. These are designed in a way that they can add to the game while preventing or at least mitigating possible abuse.
The game account receives a [gold](Gold) [subsidy](Subsidy) of 0.25% of city [treasuries](Treasury) at every [game tick](Game tick).
The game account's balance is fully controlled by Sigrid and Syksy, so it can be seen as a dev fee.
However, it will be used for several purposes:
* creating new items (items with bonuses have a creation fee)
* prizes for in game (or even out of game) competitions and mini games
* payment of infrastructure, servers, etc
* creating buildings, etc, in furtherance of the storyline
* payment for work done for the game, at Sigrid and Syksy's discretion
* this list is not exhaustive
In any case, the use of game account funds is at Sigrid and Syksy's final discretion and you are free to assume they will take it all.
The game account has the following differences from a normal player account:
* the gold subsidy described above
* it does not accrue prestige (and thus cannot earn prestige bonus gold)
* it can create new collectible coin designs
* it can create new items in the quest items group
* it can trigger a new epoch
* it does not have a limit on the number of vistas it can publicly record
* it can include a picture in vistas it publicly records
* it does not have a limit on the number of whispers it can place
* it does not have a limit on the number of places it can name
* it can create restricted areas (where building are prohibited)
* it can create new item designs with role and/or prestige bonuses (for a fee)
* it can create new scripts
* it can configure which items get offered by merchant ships
* it can create and award ad hoc badges
* it can create new attributes
* it can change the default optional ignore list
* it can "roll a dice" (on chain random number shown in chat)
* it can set global variables (used by some scripts as configuration or triggers)
* it can add new entries to the news screen
This list is intended to be exhaustive, but is probably not quite so.
In particular, there is no way in Townforge, whether through the game account or any other method, to directly affect players' balances, land, etc.
This protects against an exit scam, as whoever controls the game account can't just take player deposits, items, etc.
